Frequently Asked Questions

We want to make your trip to The Leathes Head as enjoyable as possible, therefore we hope you can find the answers to most frequently asked questions. Please do not hesitate to contact us for anything left unanswered.

Hotel cancellations

A confirmed booking constitutes a binding contract with The Leathes Head Hotel. Bookings cancelled within 48 hours of arrival or a no show will result in 100% of your total accommodation bill charged. Bookings cancelled within 14 days will result in a one night’s stay cancellation charge. No allowance can be made for curtailments or early departures, or for meals booked but not taken. All cancellations must be sent in writing by either email or letter (recorded delivery) to The Leathes Head, Borrowdale, Keswick, CA125UY. We would strongly recommend, in the unforeseen event of a cancellation that you take out holiday insurance with your own insurers to cover any cancellation charges.

Hotel arrivals & departures

We will be delighted to welcome you from 3.00pm on the day of arrival. Please inform us if your arrival is likely to be after 10pm. We respectfully ask that you vacate your room by 11.00am on the morning of your departure. Let us know if you would like to arrange an earlier check-in or a later check-out.

Restaurant hours

Reservations for dinner in our 2 AA Rosette awarded restaurant are available from 6.30pm - 8.00pm, Monday - Sunday. Our restaurant welcomes non-residents to dine, to reserve a table please phone 017687 77247.

Breakfast is served in our restaurant every morning between 8.00am - 9.30am where you will find a selection of dishes to get you started for the day.

Please note: A table will automatically be reserved for those who book our Dinner inclusive packages. If you book on a Bed & Breakfast package and you wish to dine, it is recommended that you phone or email the hotel to reserve your table before arrival, as we cannot guarantee a table for you on arrival.

Car parking

The hotel offers plenty of onsite car parking which is well lit, free, safe and off the main road.

Smoking

The hotel interior is strictly non-smoking to comply with English Law; evidence of smoking will incur an additional cleaning charge of £150.00. We do however have a spacious garden and grounds where our valued smoking guests can relax, eat and enjoy a drink. We take the non-smoking law seriously and do not tolerate any smoking within the hotel building.

Please note that we do not accept E cigarettes in our bedrooms or public areas.

Children

Unfortunately at this time we are unable to accommodate children under 18 years of age. Please note that if you are travelling with children, we may not be able to provide accommodation when you arrive. You will still be charged in full for your booking. We do urge guests to take out holiday insurance at the time of booking.

Currency and Credit Cards

We accept payment from MasterCard, Visa, International Visa Electron, UK Visa electron, UK debit MasterCard, UK Visa debit or British Pounds cash. Sorry, we are unable to accept personal cheques.

Medical and Dental

24 Hour local doctor/medical service and Dentists are available within 4 miles of the Hotel.

Disabled accessibility

Ground floor bedrooms are available for the less sprightly and all public areas of the Hotel are accessible by wheelchair.

Special diets

We cater for just about any special diet; just let us know before your arrival of your special requirements. Vegetarian options are available at all times in our restaurant.

Packed and picnic meals

Packed lunch menus are available for £8.00 each which you can order the night before.

What is and is not included in price

All quoted prices are inclusive of VAT at the ruling rate. There is no service charge added to your bill, gratuities are at the customers’ discretion.

Useful transport links

The Hotel is easily accessible by using public transport from Penrith. From here you can get trains North or South. From Keswick there is a bus operated by Stage Coach, which runs every hour and will drop you at the front entrance to the Hotel.

We can help you plan museums, nights at the theatre, nature and heritage trails, guided walks and a host of outdoor and adventure activities on the local estates and surrounding countryside, rivers, hills and mountains.

Valuables

Can be stored in our safe at reception.

Accommodation deposits

Deposits are required in stated special breaks or in bookings of 5 or more rooms where a £100.00 non-refundable deposit will be charged to the credit card used to secure the booking. We require a valid credit card with details, contact telephone number, home address and email address to secure all bookings.

Wifi

Wifi is available at no extra cost throughout the hotel, fax facilities can be arranged with reception.

Special occasions

If you’re celebrating an occasion during your stay....we can make it memorable.... Champagne, chocolates, flowers, roses, celebration cakes, breakfast in bed.. Just let us know prior to arrival what you would like, no task is too big or small so give us a call to talk over your ideas so we can make it happen!
