Keswick is a traditional English market town situated at the top of Derwent Water.
Keswick is a very energetic town with plenty on offer throughout the year and a great selection of bars, cafés and restaurants. Visit on a Thursday or Saturday and you can enjoy the local market; it really brings back the feel of the olde worlde Keswick. With cafés lining the streets there is a great vibrancy to the town. You can stroll through the historic town centre and take in the boutique shops or simply sit back with a coffee, take in the ambiance and enjoy the views.
At the Lake shore you can take a boat cruise around Derwent Water with the Keswick Launch Company where you can hop on and off at any of the stops around the lake. For the more energetic you can hire your own rowing boat and head out into the lake on your own or simply rent a motor boat. Keswick Theature offers great entertainment, with shows every night during the season.
There is always plenty to do in and around Keswick no matter what the weather. Keswick and the surrounding area also contain some great museums including the Pencil Factory and Museum where the first ever pencil was made. And don't miss the Honister Slate Mine situated down the Borrowdale Valley from The Leathes Head Hotel, with its slate quarry, shop and museum.
