Vondeling traces its origins back to 1704 to Oloff Bergh, a Swedish immigrant It is situated halfway between

Wellington and Paarl on the slopes of the Paardeberg Mountain.  Fruity and a good partner with most foods.

 

Mad Dog Shiraz, Barossa Valley, 2007 Australia   £48.00

Deep dark and Brooding, almost a little surly for a young Shiraz.With cassis, plum and blackberry fruit.

There is a good intensity in the mouth with a nice textural creaminess and some tannins.

Only limited amounts of this wine are produced annually at this highly regarded vineyard. Raspberry,

blackberry, with a gentle tobacco quality adding complexity. No rough edges with this wine.

Nelson Estate is situated in the Agter-Paarl region of South Africa - an area well known for its high-quality

wines. Lisha Nelson’s Shiraz is a perfect example, with silky dark fruit, rich mocha notes and a

The family’s vine used for their Chateauneuf-du-Pape are over 100 years old and produced

perfectly concentrated spicy rich wine.

    

 

VacqueyrasTardieu-Laurent, Rhone 2014, France     £48.00

Tardieu-Laurent is very much an "artisan" producer, making between half a dozen and 20 or so barrels

of each wine. Succulent dark fruit, cakes and cherry compote, are complemented by hints of spice.

Really serious wine from an often overlooked appellation.

Crozes Hermitage Domaine Guillaume Belle 2015 Rhone, France     £50.00

This wine is dark ruby garnet in colour. On the nose there are delicate aromas of red berries and a slight

hint of spice and pepper. Supple and soft tannins and a long fruity finish.

 

Hawequas Mont Du Toit 2013, South Africa    £37.00

Hawequas is a blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc and Merlot, which is

produced by Stephan du Toit and his wife Carolina. Concentrated, plump, ripe fruit layered with

spice and gently toasted oak.

Sweet vanilla with plums on the nose with a peppery spice. Dry, dark and firm but very fine tannins.
